Chernobyl

I found this great BBC documentary about Chernobyl on DIGG. It is a fascinating story about the aftermath of the disaster there and the scientists that were researching it. Brave souls. I found 3 points especially striking. The lack of protective gear that these scientists had while studying a blown nuclear reactor, and the fact that over half the scientists died in the process of studying the reactor, but not from radiation, but instead from heart failure due to the stress. Wow. and finally that they are still running the other 2 reactors at Chernobyl to produce power today.

More Here, amazing pictures of the abandoned town, and more pictures here and here.
